In 2010 Ibarra was honored to be nominated as a TED Fellow and Asia 21 Young Leaders Delegate for her work with  Philippine Indigenous music and ecology, public service, and as a New York Foundation for the Arts Music/ Sound Fellow for composition.  For more information on Song of the Bird King, www.songofthebirdking.com

2010 & 2012
In December 2010, Music Theatre Group presented a productive and very exciting residency and previews on December 17-19 of performance piece/new music theatre work SATURNALIA. Written by Yusef Komunyakaa, Music by Susie Ibarra, Directed by Daniel Fish and Produced by Diane Wondisford. Joining the Music-Theatre Group company for the first time was Young Peoples Chorus of New York City.  Stay tuned for more news on SATURNALIA, and its upcoming premiere run in February 2012 at Roulette’s new space in Brooklyn!

Ibarra composes and performs solo percussion music for choreographer Philippa Kaye’s work, Beyond a Shadow.

With Song of the Bird King, Ibarra continues her work with Indigenous Cultures and Ecology, leading a public service project with Asia 21 of music compilations from Asia/Pacific to benefit The Philippine Eagle Foundation, Peace Museum in Nepal and Chi Heng Foundation for orphans impacted by AIDS.

Ibarra is currently in script for the musical film on Indigenous music and Ecology in the Philippines.

2011 Earth Day

Electric Kulintang performed a European premiere of Drum Codes along with a workshop on contemporary electro-acoustic gong music in Venice May 2011.

SOTBK will be launching its music and film label with new releases of Electric Kulintang’s DRUM CODES,  T;boli Traditional Music & Dance, Mundo Niños educational Wiki and DVD,  and compilation Cds for public service projects.
