Digital Sanctuaries, NYC is an urban music mobile app walk that brings 12 sanctuaries of music to 12 historic sites in Lower Manhattan. Digital Sanctuaries, NYC invites the public to join on a virtual pilgrimage through the built environment of a cityscape, discovering meditative spaces in unexpected places, marked by an ever-changing musical score. As the audience engages with the music in each place, they are encouraged to discover the hidden qualities of the world.
We are very excited to create a digital public art experience that engages with the dynamic cityspace, and offers interactive music in virtual sanctuaries. We are interested to combine traditional and contemporary forms of music and aural storytelling.” explains renowned composer, improviser and percussionist, Susie Ibarra. Ibarra and awardwinning composer Roberto Juan Rodriguez, both of Electric Kulintang, are thrilled to present a tech launch of their anticipated Digital Sanctuaries, 12 musical compositions within a mobile app soundwalk for Lower Manhattan, NYC.
