Inside the Rhythm

Live Weekly Online Performance
Workshops and Breakdowns
with Susie Ibarra

Sitting in the many sides of musical craft, I find myself beginning

2026 in contemplation with composing and writing, listening

and reading, and in the ritual and physical body memory and

expression of performance.

In dedication to the practice and our wonderous entrainment to

nature’s rhythms, I'm thrilled for my new workshops, Inside the Rhythm, to begin on

February 5, 2026.

Inside the Rhythm will be live online sessions every Thursday. This course is a monthly subscription.

I’ll be sharing performance, playing, and breaking down rhythmic ideas and concepts live on

drums / percussion, as well as taking questions in the group.

Ideas and questions we will cover and explore are:

How to build and perfect your practice routine

What are some of the integral techniques in building up these practice routines that stick with you as you grow?

How do performances and concepts that build performance inform the practice of composing?

Learn about polyrhythms in the natural world, explained and performed on drums and percussion

What is inside an equation of fragility in sand and water?

What is the sound of a Himalayan glacial river?

How do melody and harmony play into the drips

of a Tropical Philippine Cave?

What are the rhythmic metrics of a mussel farm

at the bottom of the sea?

Let’s break it down, play it, build it up, and create music inspired by the

polyrhythms of the natural world.

Come with your curiosity, to hang out and listen, with your questions. Listen and experience ideas from nature in performance, and attend on your instruments ready to try them out.

I incorporate in real time concepts, methods and research from Rhythm in Nature, which I love and are integral to my rhythmic investigations, as well as concepts and research for my upcoming book on Polyrhythms, A Mind Body Connection, and Entrainment in the Natural World.

Hope to see you all online !
