Tide Pool Memories and the Diving House Finch: Music of Birds, Wind, and Water is a book of scores composed by drummer, teacher, and visual artist Brandon Warren. This body of work is inspired by Warren’s study and mentorship in Rhythm In Nature with composer, percussionist Susie Ibarra and multi-instrumentalist, composer, field recordist Jake Landau. The visual and western notation compositions in this book are interpretations and transcriptions of Warren’s field recordings of birdsongs and water rhythms taken in the neighborhoods and parks of Portland, OR where he is based, the tide pools and rapids of the Clackamas River in Gladstone, OR, and other natural landscapes in his home state of Florida including the Gulf of Mexico and Bayou Texar.
